Placerville U.S. Highway 50 Pavement Preservation Project

DESCRIPTION

This is a Highway Maintenance (HM) Pavement Preservation Project in El Dorado County located along U.S. Highway 50 from post mile 15.4 to pos mile 18.8 (in and near Placerville from Weber Creek Bridge to Carson Road Overcrossing).

The work includes cold plane AC pavement followed by placing rubberized hot mix asphalt-gap graded (RHMA-G), placement of new shoulder backing, removing and replacing existing traffic loops, removing and replacing traffic stripes, removing and replacing metal beam guardrail and adjusting guardrail.


PROJECT BENEFITS

Purpose: The purpose of the project is to preserve the drivability and serviceability of this section of Highway 50.

Need: This portion of Highway 50 contains alligator cracking, rutting, delaminating and is degrading such that a HM program is needed to preserve the existing roadway.


FUNDING BREAKDOWN

The Project Approval and Environmental Document (PA&ED) work and the Design support components are being funded from the State Highway’s Major Maintenance Program. The Construction Support and Capital expenses are funded from the SB 1 Program.

Capital Cost: $2,145,515
Total Project Cost: $2,515,515
