The Office of Photogrammetry (OoP) is responsible for the following :
- Provide photogrammetry products for Caltrans use - aerial photography, aerial photography reproductions, photogrammetric digital topographic maps, digital ortho-photographs and photogrammetric digital terrain data.
- Coordinate Caltrans photogrammetry operations.
- Develop standards for photogrammetry products produced by and for Caltrans.
- Develop and administer photogrammetry-related service contracts for Caltrans use, including aerial photography, photographic reproduction, and digital map compilation.
- Provide public access to the Caltrans aerial film library - an invaluable archive of aerial photography procured by Caltrans and other cooperating agencies that dates back to the early 1950's.
- Evaluate, develop, and procure cost-effective, new-technology photogrammetry equipment and systems.
OoP News
June 2006 - John Adam joins the Office of Photogrammetry as the new Chief of the Internal Production and Quality Branch. Larry Dews becomes the Chief of the Contracts Branch and Dave Brubaker becomes the Chief of Photogrammetry Project Management.
August 2005 - The Office of Photogrammetry posts documents and resources for both English and Metric mapping. See SSPM0805.pdf and resources0805.exe on the Contractor Resources page.
January 2005 - The Office of Photogrammetry posts example files and documents to assist contractors in the production of Caltrans mapping products. See examples0105.exe under downloads on the Contractor Resources page.
July 2004 - Chapter 13 Photogrammetry Surveys of the Caltrans Surveys Manual is updated to include our new Airborne GPS (ABGPS) specifications.
January 2004 - The Office of Photogrammetry moves to the Division of Engineering Services (DES) - Subdivision of Structure Design Services & Earthquake Engineering (SDS&EE) where Rob Stott is the Deputy Division Chief.
June 2003 - Chapter 13 - Photogrammetry Surveys of the Caltrans Surveys Manual is published.
