Inquiry #1: Page 34 of the special provisions for section 39 states: Add to the table in the 1st paragraph of section 39-2.02B(2)

This test method is antiquated, the equipment to run this test is not in use today. CTM 360 was for use with the Hveem mix design method (not superpave) with references in the test method to CTM 304 and CTM 308 which are no longer in use. Superpave requires the use of AASHTO test methods and not CTM's. Furthermore Gyratory test specimens are 6" in diameter, this test method requires 4" test specimens compacted using the kneading compactor which is also no longer being used.

Is Caltrans going to issue an addendum removing the surface abrasion requirement from the contract prior to bid time ?

Inquiry #2: Page 34 of the Special provisions for section 39 states:

Replace Reserved in section 39-2.02B(3):

The grade of asphalt binder for Type A HMA at O'Brynes Ferry Intersection in Tuolumne County Route
120 PM 11.241/11.486 must be PG 76-22.

PG76-22 is a modified binder and there is no specification in Section 92 of the Standard Specifications for a PG 76-22 neat.

Is the intent of this specification to use a PG76-22M per section 92 of the Standard Specifications?
