Structural Precast Concrete Quality Control
Effective October 1, 2003, the Department - with significant input from industry representatives - implemented a new Structural Precast Concrete Quality Control specification for the following items:
- Piles
- Girders
- Deck Units
- Mechanically Stablized Earth (MSE) panels
The new Standard Special Provision requires:
- Successful completion of the Structural Precast Concrete Fabrication Qualification Audit prior to commencing work
- The Prime Contractor to designate a Quality Control Manager (QCM)
- An approved Structural Precast Concrete Quality Control Plan
- Specific reporting requirements documenting the precasting operation
