Inquiry #1: I went to San Bernardino today, 11/15 for the Mandatory Pre-bid meeting. Caltrans staff in San Bernardino were unaware that a pre-bid meeting had been scheduled for the Hwy 18 project. Please provide a date and time for the Mandatory Pre-bid meeting.

Response #2:An addendum will be issued to address this Inquiry #1. The correct mandatory pre-bid meeting is following:
"The mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled on December 4, 2018 at 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at W 4th Street, San Bernardino, CA 92401, Room 805."

Inquiry #2: Christmas Eve/Christmas Day are the Monday and Tuesday following bid opening, which might throw a kink in the 5 day submittal process. Can you tell us which days Caltrans is observing for the holiday and how it will impact the DBE due date?

Inquiry #3: In regard to the thermoplastic striping on this project; it appears that Caltrans has made some massive quantity miscalculations! The project is 14.5 miles long, which would be 76,500 LF (Detail 27B - right edge line calls for 305,068 LF) the actual amount should be 153,000 LF.
The Yellow Centerlines (details 19 & 22) were not doubled for payment purposes.
Can you please correct the striping quantities for all details so that everyone is bidding the same quantities? The Pavement Delineation Quantities are just not right!

Inquiry #4: On the Temporary Desert Tortoise Fence, the plans (on sheet 31) shows the hardware cloth extending 18" above the ground. The Special Provisions require the hardware cloth to extend 24" above the ground. Does the State want the hardware cloth to extend 18' or 24" above the ground?

Inquiry #5: In regard to the existing striping on the project; some of the striping details change in areas; there are no items for removal of existing striping. How does Caltrans intend to pay for any stripe removals, and should we assume that most of the project will be restriping over the existing stripes? New striping will be 6" lines instead of the existing 4" striping.

Inquiry #6: For the Temporary Turtle Fence, detail C-2 calls for the U shaped hold down pins to be #4 rebar. Specification 80-4.02(1)(A) states the U shaped hold down pins are to be at least 11 gauge galvanized wire. Can you please clarify if we shall detail is correct. Futhermore if we are to use the #4 rebar pins, will they be required to be galvanized.
