On Wednesday, November 9, 2011, 9:30 AM-11:30 AM, Lee Rodergerdts of Kittelson & Associates & Key Research Project Team Members presented "Roundabouts: Research & Development Findings & Products."

Topic Description: "Roundabouts: Research & Development Findings & Products"

Roundabouts are a common form of intersection control used throughout the world and increasingly in the United States. The information contained in NCHRP Report 672 Roundabouts: An Informal Guide is based on the 2000 Guide as well as established and emerging U.S. practices and recent research.

As roundabouts are more widely adopted, it is becoming clear that in many instances roundabouts could be the preferred intersection treatment and can improve safety, mobility, and reduce environmental impacts. Since there is no absolutely optimum design, this webinar and the guide are not intended as an inflexible set of rules but rather attempts to explain some principles of selection, good design and indicate potential trade-offs that one may face in a variety of situations.
