World Congress 2005 / Innovative Corridors Initiative
Innovative Mobility Research (IMR) staff, based at the California Center for Innovative Transportation (CCIT), are working closely with the California Department of Transportation, Metropolitan Planning Organizations, local planning authorities, ITS America, ITS World Congress, and industry on the Innovative Corridors Initiative to help identify opportunities to launch innovative pilot projects (both ITS-based products and services) in California.
There are two primary goals of California's Innovative Corridors Initiative (ICI). First, the ICI aims to demonstrate and advance an integrated Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) vision (among technologies, regions, and industry). Second, ICI intends to accelerate the development and testing of innovative ITS products and services (employing advanced electronic, wireless, and control technologies) along major California corridors. A key focus of the ICI effort is the collection and use of real-time traveler and traffic management information by system users and managers.
