Caltrans Takes You from the Materials Lab to the Freeway to Show Innovative Approach to Highway Maintenance
Caltrans News Flash #137
STOCKTON – In this Caltrans News Flash, maintenance crews repair a segment of State Route 99, where the peak hour traffic count exceeds 11,500 vehicles/hour, using a new type of patching material for filling potholes in the roadway. The material allows temporary fixes of roadway that are quicker and more cost-effective than traditional hot-mix.
With the additional funding from SB 1, the new transportation bill, we'll be seeing more crews out on the roadways doing long-awaited repairs. Using these smart, new products increases worker and motorist safety since the workers are spending less time on the roadway and minimizes delays for the traveling public.
