California Interregional Blueprint Summit
Integrating California's Transportation Future
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) was pleased to host the California Interregional Blueprint (CIB) Summit on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, in Sacramento.
The CIB Summit provided the opportunity to provide valuable input in the development of California Interregional Blueprint Interim Report due to the California State Legislature and California Transportation Commission (CTC) by December 31, 2012. SB 391 (Liu 2009) requires the State’s long-range transportation plan to meet California’s climate change goals under AB 32. In response to these statutes, Caltrans is preparing the CIB to articulate the State’s vision for an integrated, multimodal interregional transportation system that complements regional transportation plans and land use visions.
The CIB Summit included two panel discussions with audience participation. The first panel, made up of representatives from metropolitan planning organizations, a rural transportation planning agency and the California Air Resources Board, discussed the CIB Interim Report and new tools, partnerships and integrated approaches to transportation. The second panel focused on the CTC Statewide Transportation Needs Assessment and included representatives from the California Transportation Commission, San Diego Association of Governments, the California High Speed Rail Commission, Caltrans and a representative from the private sector.
