Who Can Participate

Individuals, organizations, businesses, and city, county, state, and federal agencies can adopt sections of State highway roadside. Participants may perform the work themselves or hire a service contractor to perform the work on their behalf.

Subject to Caltrans approval, minors aged 16 and older, may participate provided that they are adequately supervised.

Entities that advocate violence, violation of the law, or discrimination based upon race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, physical handicap, medical condition, marital status, age, sex, or sexual orientation may not participate in the Adopt-A-Highway Program.
