Seismic Response Modification Devices
Seismic Response Modification Devices such as isolation bearings, dampers or other damping devices, and shock transmitted devices are required to be pre-qualified and accepted as approved new products before being used on Caltrans’ bridges.
Information about new product approval process can be found in California Department Transportation New Product Evaluation Guidelines .
To prequalify Seismic Response Modification Devices, the manufacturers shall include the test results according to the test plans list below in the submittal:
