Welcome to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Transportation Laboratory (TransLab) HomePage for the California Test Methods (CTM). The CTMs are in metric form in accordance with the October 1, 1996 metric conversion date for construction projects. You may view the CTMs by clicking on a link for any of the following categories:

100 - 199 Calibration, Nuclear Gauges, Sampling, Materials Report
200 - 299 Soils, Aggregates, Compressive Strength, Moisture
300 - 399 R-Values, Bituminous Mixtures, Asphalt Content
400 - 499 Cement Treated Bases, Lime, Chloride Content
500 - 599 Concrete, Freeze-Thaw, Admixtures
600 - 699 Reflectors, Wire, Traffic Signals, Steel, Tensile Strength


All CTMs are in Adobe PDF format.  * The Acrobat Reader, which is required to view these documents, can be downloaded directly from Adobe's software site. We strongly recommend that you configure your browser to link directly to the Acrobat Reader to make viewing these CTMs a seamless process.
