California Bridge Construction Forum

The California Bridge Construction Forum is a partnership between Caltrans Structure Construction and Bridge Industry Contractors of California. The specific intent of this forum is to improve communication and encourage collaboration between contractors and Caltrans in improving processes and standards. The format of this forum will include both open discussion as well as discussion focused on topics predetermined by survey. The focus of this forum will be bridge construction related issues. The California Bridge Construction Forums for 2009 was held on June 3rd at the District 11 District Office in San Diego. There were over 40 attendees from the Bridge Construction Industry. Attendees from Caltrans represented Structure Construction Bridge Construction Managers from across the state, Structures Maintenance Design, Structures Design and District Construction Managers. The meeting included the lively debate as attendees have come to expect.

The topics covered: (1) Bridge Deck Noise and Finish, (2) Contractor Structure Concrete QC/QA, (3) Bridge Maintenance Program/Project Issues, and (4) Accelerated Bridge Construction. The Bridge Maintenance discussion focused mostly on the methacrylate deck treatments and polyester overlays.
