San Bernardino County - From east of South Fork Campground to
State Lane.
Constructed in 1961 as a modern, access controlled highway, the road offers a leisurely drive even though it rises 2,000 feet on the south end and 1,600 feet on the north in order to cross the San Bernardino Mountains crest at Onyx Summit. Throughout the area can be seen forested mountain sides with the addition of far-off desert vistas near Onyx Summit.
