This research project is complete and is now available online. The objective of this problem focus study was to consider revising Traffic Operations Policy Directive 02-02 so that weathering steel guardrail (WSGR) with an improved joint detail could be used in all regions of California except the three coastal regions identified on the Caltrans Pavement Climate Regions Map.

 

Aesthetic Low Maintenace Guardrail

Aesthetic/Low Maintenance Guardrail System, 2015

This research project is complete and now available online. This study developed and tested a new guardrail system to NCHRP Report 350 Test Level 3 (TL-3) for freeway and highway conditions. It meets California's needs for an aesthetically pleasing guardrail that is able to sustain vehicular impacts with minimal or no damage

 

Low Profile Barrier

Low Profile Barrier, 2007

This research project is complete and now available online. The purpose of this project is to develop an aesthetic low-profile barrier that can be used to shield motorists from trees or other landscaping obstacles, either in a median or on the right roadside.
