Caltrans Announces Appointment of New District Director

Fresno – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Malcolm Dougherty to the position of District 6 Director effective August 1, 2006.

In 1991, Mr. Dougherty graduated from Rutgers University in New Jersey with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. In 1992, he began his career with Caltrans as a Transportation Engineer and has since moved through the ranks of Associate Senior and Supervising Transportation Engineer. Mr. Dougherty’s 14 year plus tenure with Caltrans also includes that of Principal Transportation Engineer to the Central Region Capital Program.

Mr. Dougherty brings with him a broad spectrum of knowledge of the Department’s goals. His experience to advance the Department’s delivery of transportation projects and services through a proactive program of partnership, stewardship, and innovation will lead us into a new era. Mr. Dougherty states, “I believe we have a responsibility to be a good community partner and provide added value to the various transportation improvement projects currently underway.” “Finding the solutions to address these transportation needs is my ultimate goal.”

His extensive knowledge in departmental policies and procedures, as well as State and Federal laws and regulations will allow him to apply his expertise and knowledge to the District Director position.
