Q1) I wanted to know if there were cross-sections available for job# 06-337324 as of 12-20-07 and if not what is the approx. date they will be available.
A1) Cross sections are available at Airport Blue Print located at 4854 N. Blackstone Ave., Fresno, CA.
Q2) The x-sections on X-1 thru X-3 show the original ground and the proposed design at the same elevation at the ETW but there are no provisions in the plans or the special provisions for any grinding and overlay to match the grades. Please confirm that there is no grinding and that revised cross-sections will be provided.
A2) The only grinding are taper grinds at the Bridge, start and finish of the project, intersections and the lip of gutter at Road 192.
Q3) There are 15 dwys (either AC or AB) not shown on the Summary of Quantities but shown on the layout plans, there are no provisions for bringing this dwys to the new design grade. Please confirm that no work is required at the dwys not shown on Q-1 and a Change Order will be written if any additional work is required.
A3) The only driveways that are indicated on the quantity sheet are to receive AC or AB. The driveway that are not shown on the quantity sheet are dirt driveways and there quantity is included with the earthwork.
Q4) Sheet 199 of the Special Provisons, Section 10-1.27 Earthwork, paragraph 3 reads; “The portion of imported borrow placed within 1.5 m of the finished grade shall have a Resistance (R-Value) of not less than 60 for KP 12.9 to KP 15.3 and 50 for KP 15.3 to KP R24.1.” Please confirm that this is what Caltrans wants.
A4) This is what Caltrans wants.
Q5) Are cross sections available for this project?
A5) Cross sections are available at Airport Blue Print located at 4854 N. Blackstone Ave., Fresno, CA.
Q6) Cross sections do not show limits of structural sections. Is Caltrans going to provide this information?
A6) The structural sections are placed on the cross sections and they are available at Airport Blueprint.
Q7) Typical cross sections only show Imported material (shoulder backing) from sta. 276+20.25 to 279+09.14 (rt) & 275+25.97 to 279+09.14 (lt). The remainder of the job shows embankment on the shoulders. Is the Imported material (shoulder backing) not going to be required in these areas and is embankment going to be acceptable for the shoulder backing? If not what are going to be the requirements?
A7) Import Material (Shoulder Backing) is to be placed where an overlay is being placed. In the shoulder widening areas embankment is to be placed
Q8) The driveways on the plans that do not indicate whether they are going to be class 2 a.b. or a.c., is the native soil going to be the requirement for grading of these driveways?
A8) The driveways are to be place in kind. The quantity sheet indicates the driveways that are to receive either AC of AB. The other driveway are dirt and will be paid in the earthwork items.
Q9) With the ongoing construction on Hwy 190, it appears the existing grade in the shoulder area is being altered, how is this going to affect the roadway ex. and import qtys?
A9) Bid this project from the cross sections and quantities provided in or with the bid documents.
Q10) The response to Bidder’s Inquiry Request # 7 specifies the limits for shoulder backing from sta 276+20.25 to 279+09.14 (rt) and 275+25.97 – 279+09.14 (lt), however the Engineer’s quantity still covers the length of the job. Please specify if an addendum will be written with the revised Engineer’s quantity.
A10) Bid the project as you see it.
