Q1) Look on plans C-5 plans calls for #10 Rebar in the Fence rail Section A-A the rail is only 2" wide # 10 is 1-1/2" bar
all supplies use 2-#4
Same thing on section B-B you call out for 2-#13 bar thats 1-3/4"
All supplies use 4 #4 bar the fence post is only 5" x 5" sq

A1) The call-outs for rebar on the Construction Details plan C-5, shown in Section A-A and Section B-B, appear to be typographical errors. No addenda are anticipated prior to the bid opening. Please bid in accordance with the current contract documents.


Q2) Look on page 34 10-1.19 Rail is Textured on 3 sides not four sides
the adhesive will stick better to smooth side which will be face down.

A2) Your comments are noted. Please bid in accordance with the current contract documents.


Q3) Sheet 6 shows the concrete railing installed on 8' centers. The summary of quantities has the location totals. These totals at each locations do not produce a fence with 8' centers. Do we cut one center section to meet the total or do we reduce all the centers meet the total ?

A3) Construct rustic concrete rail fence as shown on the Construction Details plan C-5, on 8' centers. Cut the last rail to meet the required total length.


Q4) Sheets 3,4 and 5 put the new rustic concrete railing on the same alignment as the removed railing. Will the foundation holes from the existing posts have to be backfilled and compacted, then drilled or just redrilled oversized ?

A4) It is anticipated that foundation holes will require a combination of new drilled holes, redrilled oversized holes, and some will require backfill and compaction, as necessary.


Q5) The plans have the contractor closing the Hwy. 49 Vista Area to do the work. Do we close the Hwy. 5 and the Hwy. 120 sites to do the work also? There aren't any signs in the plans. If they are left open, can we delineate an area of work? Are we to work around the public?

A5) Lane closures are limited to Location 2 (Northbound Amador 49, PM 5.6), in accordance with Chart No. 1 in Section 10-1.09 Maintaining Traffic of the special provisions. Refer also to Section 7-1.08 Public Convenience, and 7-1.09 Public Safety, of the Standard Specifications.


Q6) At one of the Hwy. 120 sites, there are large exposed rocks. Do you have any soil borings?

A6) No supplemental project information is available. Please bid in accordance with the contract documents.
