- District 6 Profile
- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 6 is headquartered in Fresno. This geographically diverse district is the second largest of the 12 Districts statewide, stretching from the southernmost part of Yosemite National Park in the north to the Mojave Desert. It includes Madera, Fresno, Tulare, Kings and Kern counties. Interstate 5 and State Route 99 run the length of District 6, serving as the main north-south arteries for not just the Central Valley, but for the entire state as well.

City of Madera Improvement ProjectEllis Street Bridge Overcrossing Project The new bridge will span over Golden State Boulevard, State Route 99, Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) and Sharon Avenue within the City of Madera in Madera County. State Route 180 Braided Ramps Project The proposed project would construct new braided branch connections between State Routes 41, 180, and 168 to improve traffic operations, reduce congestion, and enhance traffic safety within freeway-to-freeway interchanges. State Route 198 - Hanford Expressway This $50 million dollar project will convert an approximate 10 mile section of existing two lane conventional highway to a four lane controlled access expressway.The project limits are in Kings and Tulare Counties from east of State Route 43 in Hanford to west of State Route 99 near Visalia. Approximately 7 miles are in Kings County, with approximately 3 miles in Tulare County. Construction is set to be completed in the Spring of 2012. Read more about the Hanford Expressway Project... |
