Caltrans Demolishes Seismically Unsafe Doyle Drive Over a Weekend and Re-Opens the New Safe Route to Traffic in Less Than 57 HoursCaltrans replaced the structure with a temporary bypass and open the new seismically safe bridge and tunnel to traffic. The demolition began Friday evening on April 27, 2012 and the new seismically safe structure was reopened ahead of schedule the following Monday at 4:45 AM, less than 57 hours after the demolition began. Caltrans District 4 - Move Over –It’s the Law!Caltrans District 4 in Oakland with the California Highway Patrol Golden Gate division launched a media campaign reminding motorists of the existing Move Over law originally passed in 2007. When seeing a flashing amber light on an emergency or service vehicle, such as a highway patrol or Caltrans vehicle, the motorists must slow down or move over. Motorists are required to move over to an adjacent lane when it is safe to do so.The motorists not obeying the law are punishable by a fine of $50.00 for the first violation.
