Highway 128 Repaving in Northern Sonoma County Gets Underway Next Week
Construction work to repave 12 miles of Highway 128 in northern Sonoma County's Alexander Valley from Canyon Road to Maacama Creek will begin next week, Caltrans officials have announced.
For the next two months, work will be done from 6 am until 6 pm on weekdays. During the work, one-way traffic controls will be in effect where crews are actively working.
Signs have been posted to advise motorists traveling through the work zone to wait for the pilot car before proceeding. Motorists in the area may experience minor delays of 5-10 minutes; however, at not time will the highway be entirely closed.
In addition, a 1/2-mile section of Highway 128 between the Alexander Valley Store & Bar and the Pine Flat Road will be deleted from the project so that a wastewater pipeline can be installed by the City of Santa Rosa later this year. Once the pipeline is completed, this section of the highway will be repaved.
The repaving is scheduled to be completed by July 1 at a cost of $1.7 million. The contractor is North Bay Construction, Inc. of Petaluma.
