19th Ave/Park Presidio Blvd.Traffic Signal Upgrade Project in San Francisco
Project Description:
Upgrade the existing traffic signal system on Route 1 (19th Avenue & Park Presidio), between Junipero Serra Boulevard and Lake Street to increase highway operational efficiency and pedestrian safety.
Major Work Items:
- Signal standard and signal indication replacement
- Pedestrian countdown signals
- Curb ramp replacement and ADA compliance
- Crosswalk striping and advance stop bar striping
- Median accessibility improvements
- Vehicle detectors
- Controller assemblies
- Safety lighting at intersections
- Traffic signal interconnection with fiber optic cables
Additional Project Information:
- This is a cooperative project between Caltrans and the City and County of San Francisco.
- Estimated Capital Cost for Phases I & II = $12.4 M to be split between Caltrans and the City and County of San Francisco.
- For Phases I and II, construction will generally progress from North to South of Route 1.
- Traffic Management Plans have been prepared to provide necessary measures to minimize the anticipated delays caused by daytime lane closures on Route 1, especially Northbound.
