Sacramento 50 Bus-Carpool Lane and Community Enhancements Project

Project Description

The proposed project would add two high-occupancy vehicle (HOV, or carpool) lanes (one eastbound and one westbound) in the median of U.S. 50 in Sacramento County from Sunrise Boulevard to Downtown Sacramento. The project would include bridge modifications, potential on/off ramps in the median of U.S. 50 in downtown, median shoulders, lighting improvements, new overlay, and CHP enforcement areas. The project also proposes to include specific strategies and projects identified to improve the street system adjacent to U.S. 50 to enhance neighborhood livability. These “community enhancements” were identified during the citizen advisory committee meetings that occurred from January to October 2003.
