The Buckhorn Grade Improvement Project is located on Highway 299 from near the Trinity/Shasta County line to approximately 7 miles to the east down the grade to Yankee Gulch.  The project is being developed by the California Department of Transportation in conjunction with our local county partners.

Salyer  

Salyer

This project, located on State Route 299 in Trinity County near the town of Salyer, will widen shoulders, correct cross slopes and provide for legal STAA truck wheel tracking.  The project is necessary to reduce the number and severity of accidents at this location.  The accident rate at this location is four times the statewide average for similar types of roadways. 

This project is scheduled to begin construction in the summer of 2009

China Slide   China Slide

The China Slide project improving lane width and shoulder geometrics, changing the curve, and increasing the Clear Recovery Zone, an area adjacent to the traveled way where errant vehicles have room to recover if they have left the roadway.

Construction on this $3.4 million dollar contract is slated to begin in June 2009.
