DELAYS ON STATE ROUTE 299 between Redding and Weaverville Motorists should anticipate up to an hour delay while crews work on several projects east of Buckhorn Summit. One way traffic control will be in effect weekly Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.to 5 p.m.while crews work on projects 2.5 miles east of the Shasta Trinity County line to 2.6 miles west of Crystal Creek Road.These projects will continue through the Fall. Work will also continue on an eight mile stretch from Fawn Lodge to the Buckhorn Summit. This project will conclude in the middle of June. If you will be traveling on 299 during the Memorial Day holiday, please be advised, work will continue through 3 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013 and will resume Tuesday , May 28, 2013 at 7 a.m. If you have questions about the Buckhorn projects, Caltrans representatives will be holding a public open house on Thursday, May 30th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Trinity County library in Weaverville. Caltrans has several internet locations where you can find up to date travel information. Caltrans Tribute to Fallen Workers- Pedestrian Signal Survey
- Caltrans, in cooperation with the City of Redding, is testing an experimental pedestrian signal to determine if it improves motorists awareness of those using crosswalks. Yellow LED lights will be added to the border of standard signal heads. The lights will activate when the pedestrian hits the call button and will stay on until the red, flashing hand appears. The proposed modification would alert those turning right that a pedestrian is about to cross their path and those turning left that a pedestrian is in an adjacent crosswalk.
