Sanyo Avenue Temporarily Closed Beginning Monday
SAN DIEGO –– Sanyo Avenue from Airway Road to Otay Mesa Road in the community of Otay Mesa will be closed for three days beginning Monday at 6 a.m. for sewage-line repairs. According to Caltrans, crews expect to complete the repairs and re-open the roadway on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Work will take place during daytime and will be noisy during movement of heavy equipment and excavation activities. Pedestrian access will be maintained and local businesses in the area will remain open.
Northbound Sanyo Avenue traffic will be detoured east on Airway Road, north on Enrico Fermi Drive and west on Otay Mesa Road. Southbound Sanyo Avenue motorists will use the same detour route in the opposite direction.
The work is part of the SR-11/Otay Mesa East Port of Entry Project which will help relieve traffic congestion and shorten wait times at the Otay Mesa and San Ysidro ports of entry. The cost of Segment One is $112 million and is expected to be completed in early 2016.
Project information is available on the Caltrans website at www.dot.ca.gov/dist11/facts.
