Northbound SR-15 Closed Nights on Wednesday and Thursday
SAN DIEGO –– Caltrans reported that crews will close northbound State Route 15 (SR-15) from Interstate 805 (I-805) to Interstate 8 (I-8) Wednesday and Thursday nights at 9 until 5 in the morning. The closures are required to remove overhead sign structures as part of ongoing work for the SR-15 Mid-City Centerline Transit Stations Project.
Also closed during this time will be on- and off-ramps at University Avenue, El Cajon Boulevard, and Adams Avenue along with the off-ramp at Camino Del Rio South.
Detour signs will be posted directing motorists traveling north on SR-15 to exit at northbound I-805, to northbound State Route 163, to northbound Interstate 15. Access to El Cajon Boulevard and University Avenue from I-805 will be maintained throughout the closures.
Although crews will work to minimize impacts to businesses, residents and commuters, nearby residents can expect intermittent lights and noise during these construction activities.
The $65 million SR-15 Mid-City Centerline Transit Stations Project will build San Diego’s first freeway-level transit stations along SR-15 at El Cajon Boulevard and University Avenue. New transit-only lanes also will be constructed within the existing SR-15 median from just north of I-805 to just south of I-8. The project is expected to be completed in 2017.
