Revised Work Schedule for I-5 Ocean View Rehab Project
SAN DIEGO –– In response to higher than anticipated summer travel, the Interstate 5 (I-5) Ocean View Rehab Project between Oceanside and Orange County will begin work one hour later and no work is planned Friday-Saturday. This work schedule will be in place until early September.
Lane closures will take place, Sunday -Thursday, 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. I-5 will be reduced to one lane in each direction after 11 p.m. The closures include the on- and off-ramps at Las Pulgas Road, with intermittent closures of the ramps at Basilone and Cristianitos roads.
Motorists have the option of taking Interstate 15 to bypass potential congestion on I-5.
Crews are replacing bridge approach slabs and portions of the highway shoulder.
Motorists are reminded that the maximum speed through a construction zone is 55 mph. These limits are set for the safety of motorists and for the work crews.
The $43 million I-5 Ocean View Rehab Project is expected to be completed in winter 2016. Motorists should expect delays during work hours and it is suggested they check Caltrans Quick Map online at quickmap.dot.ca.gov for the latest freeway traffic information before leaving home.
