Mira Mesa Boulevard at I-805 Closed Thursday Night

SAN DIEGO – Construction crews will close all lanes in both directions on Mira Mesa Boulevard at Interstate 805 (I-805) Thursday from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. The closure is required to re-stripe the traffic lanes in preparation for the placement of temporary bridge forms.

Motorists traveling westbound on Mira Mesa Boulevard will be detoured to northbound I-805 then merged onto northbound Interstate 5 to Carmel Mountain Road. From Carmel Mountain Road, motorists will be directed to southbound I-805 to westbound Mira Mesa Boulevard. Motorists traveling eastbound on Mira Mesa Boulevard will be detoured to southbound I-805, then Miramar Road to northbound I-805 to eastbound Mira Mesa Boulevard.

Electronic message signs are in place along Mira Mesa Boulevard advising of the closures.  Detour signs will assist motorist around the closure.

The work is part of Stage 1 of the I-805 North Express Lanes Project. The project is constructing one carpool lane in each direction in the median of I-805 from just north of SR-52 to just north of Mira Mesa Boulevard. The project will also construct a south-facing Direct Access Ramp to and from I-805 at Carroll Canyon Road. Estimated cost for this stage is $86 million.
