Federal, state and regional transportation officials, elected representatives, and community members.

The opening of two major transportation projects on the same day – the first project will be celebrated in the morning in the northern part of the city and the second in the afternoon in the southern part of the city.

I-805 Carpool Lanes/Carroll Canyon Road Extension Project:

Featured speakers will discuss the unique federal, state, regional and private funding partnership on this $90.9 million project to build nearly two miles of carpool lanes in each direction on Interstate 805 between the I-5/I-805 merge and Carroll Canyon Road. Additional improvements include the extension of Carroll Canyon Road under the freeway and a new Direct Access Ramp (DAR) to and from the newly-built carpool lanes.  They will also spotlight upcoming improvements on the Interstate 5 North Coast Corridor.

I-805 South Express Lanes Project:
Featured speakers will discuss the completion of eight miles of carpool lanes, which are part of Phase 1 of this $1.4 billion project. The carpool lanes will stretch from East Naples Street in Chula Vista to State Route 94 in San Diego.  Other Phase 1 improvements still under construction include a DAR, transit station and Park & Ride at East Palomar Street in Chula Vista.

Both events take place on Wednesday, March 5
