Closures In Place On I-5 Near San Ysidro Port
SAN DIEGO – A reminder to motorists that three lanes of southbound Interstate 5 (I-5) just north of the San Ysidro Port of Entry (POE) are closed through Friday morning.
The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) closed the lanes on Sunday to accommodate ongoing construction at the border crossing. Traffic delays are expected en route to the San Ysidro POE and the alternative State Route 905 to the Otay Mesa POE. Motorists may consider using the SR-125 South Bay Expressway for a fee to avoid I-5 and I-805 for access to SR-905.
GSA reports that similar closures will take place at the San Ysidro POE during the next three weeks. Caltrans has placed portable message signs to notify motorists of the lane closures.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and safely move over a lane when Caltrans or other emergency vehicles are displaying flashing amber lights. It’s the law!
