Interstate - 805 Construction Contract Awarded
SAN DIEGO – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has awarded a $72 million contract to Skanska-Coffman a Joint Venture in association with AECOM to construct a high occupant vehicle/bus rapid transit lane in each direction in the median of Interstate 805 (I-805) from State Route 52 (SR-52) to Mira Mesa Blvd.
Construction will begin this fall and is expected to be completed in mid 2015. The project will help reduce congestion on the corridor and is one of several construction projects planned for the corridor.
Construction along the I-805 corridor includes the work to extend Carroll Canyon Road under I-805 and build a high occupancy vehicle lane in each direction along I-805 from Interstate 5 to Carroll Canyon Road, slated for completion in winter 2012. Crews will also complete the realignment of the on and off-ramps at La Jolla Village Drive/Miramar Road this summer.
Work will begin this spring to build a high occupancy vehicle lane in each direction along I-805 from State Route 94 to Palomar Street in Chula Vista.
