Media Advisory — SR-905/I-805 Interchange Project Event

WHO:

California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Acting District Bill Figge, Federal Highway Administration Associate Administrator Richard Backlund and San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders will be joined by other state and local officials.

WHAT:

An event to mark the completion of the $20 million, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funded State Route 905/Interstate 805 Interchange Project.

WHEN:

Thursday, Feb. 16, starting at 1p.m.

WHERE:

The event will take place on Caliente Avenue over the construction area. (Thomas Guide Page 1351, A-2).

Directions:  Take southbound I-5 or I-805 to eastbound SR-905.  Turn right onto Caliente Avenue. Flaggers will assist guests to the event site.

Alternate directions:  Take southbound SR-125 (South Bay Expressway) to SR-905. At the signal turn right onto Otay Mesa Road/SR-905, then left on Caliente Avenue. Please note that motorists using SR-125 will be assessed a toll.

VISUALS:

Officials will make brief remarks and commemorate the completion of the project by placing an "Ahead of Schedule and Under Budget" sign over the ARRA project funding sign previously unveiled at the start of work in April 2011.

Display boards and project fact sheets will be available. A staff member will be available for interviews in Spanish. .
