Full Closure Scheduled for Southbound State Route 163

SAN DIEGO – Construction Crews will close southbound State Route 163 (SR-163) from Interstate 15 (I-15) to the Kearny Villa Road Overcrossing on two consecutive nights beginning Tuesday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

Crews will be performing surface grinding work to smooth the roadway.

“Although this work is typically noisy,” said Media Information Officer Edward Cartagena, “Caltrans will do its upmost to keep noise at a minimum.” Cartagena went on to say that the closures are scheduled at night to accommodate the lower traffic volumes and reduce impacts to the traveling public.

Detour signs will direct motorists to take southbound I-15 to westbound SR-52 to southbound I-805 to southbound SR-163.

Motorists are asked to drive with caution when approaching a construction zone.
