La Mesa Boulevard On-ramp to Eastbound I-8 Closed Thursday
SAN DIEGO – Crews from the California Department of Transportation will be closing the La Mesa Boulevard eastbound Interstate 8 on-ramp on Thursday from 6 a.m. – 4 p.m. The full ramp closure is needed so crews can repair a pipe located under the on-ramp.
Motorists needing access to eastbound I-8 will be detoured to the eastbound Severin Drive on-ramp. Vehicles traveling northbound on La Mesa Boulevard will make a right onto Grossmont Boulevard then a left onto Bancroft Drive and continue north on Bancroft Drive then a left on Severin Drive to the on-ramp. Southbound vehicles on La Mesa Boulevard make a right on Murray Drive and continue east on Murray Drive then a right on Severin Drive to the on-ramp.
Detour signs will be placed to help motorists navigate the detour. Since traffic volumes in the area increase through the afternoon hours, Caltrans is suggesting that motorists leave extra time for their commute. The ramp will open early if work is completed before 4 p.m.
