Extended Southbound I-15 Ramp Closures in Escondido Begin Friday
SAN DIEGO – Access to and from southbound Interstate15 (I-15) will be limited in the Escondido area for 16 days by two extended ramp closures beginning this Friday, April 23 at 9 p.m., according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). Delays during peak commuting hours are expected. Motorists are advised to alter their route or allow for extra time for their commute.
The first ramp closure is the southbound on-ramp from Valley Parkway beginning Friday, April 23 at 9 p.m. When this ramp reopens on Monday, April 26 at 5 a.m., traffic will continue to be detoured to 9th Avenue/Auto Park Way to access southbound I-15 for 14 days. Southbound access from Valley Parkway on-ramp will be fully restored on Monday, May 10 at 5 a.m. Detours will be signed to direct motorists.
The second closure is the off-ramp to 9th Avenue/Auto Park Way beginning Friday, April 23 at 9 p.m. This ramp will be closed for 16 days. Detours will be signed to direct motorists.
These closures are needed to finish paving work on the outside portions of I-15. Once the outside portions of I-15 are completed this summer, construction will begin on the new Express Lanes in the median of I-15.
More detailed construction advisories about these closures and detours are available online at: www.KeepSanDiegoMoving.com. Motorists can also call the I-15 Express Lanes project information hotline at (866) 890-1397 for more detailed information.
