Caltrans Prepares for Bowl Traffic
SAN DIEGO – Football fans headed to Qualcomm Stadium for Thursday’s Poinsettia Bowl should plan to give themselves plenty of time to make kickoff. While the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is working with the Poinsettia Bowl Committee to make traveling to the stadium as easy as possible, the recent storm, evening commute and holiday shoppers may increase the travel time of fans to the stadium.
“We are working together so fans from both teams have a pleasant experience traveling to and from what is shaping up to be a very exciting game,” said Caltrans District Director Laurie Berman.
Changeable Message Signs on freeways near the stadium will be on to assist all motorists through the area. All motorists traveling through this section of Mission Valley may anticipate a slight delay. For additional information call the Caltrans Public Information Office at (619) 688-6670. Before heading to the stadium fans should check http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist11/d11tmc/sdmap/showmap.php for real time traffic speeds.
