New Lanes of SR-905 to Open Thursday Morning
SAN DIEGO – Construction crews will work early Thursday morning to have the newest portion of State Route 905 (SR-905) open to traffic in time for the morning commute, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
The new segment stretches from Siempre Viva Road west to Britannia Boulevard. It was constructed at a cost of $87.2 million funded through Proposition 1B, the transportation bond approved by state voters in November 2006.
Caltrans District Director Laurie Berman said the project is critical to accommodate increased international trade and truck traffic between California and Baja California, Mexico. She said the remaining work to be performed late Wednesday/early Thursday will include striping and placing concrete barriers. She asked motorists to remain alert while driving through the area since construction crews are working on the next stage of work on SR-905 between Britannia Boulevard and I-805.
