Interstate 8 Closed Wednesday Night
SAN DIEGO – Highway construction crews will close all eastbound lanes on Interstate 8 between Second Street and Greenfield Drive in El Cajon this Wednesday night. Lane closures will begin at 8 and all lanes will be closed by 10. The freeway will reopen at 6 the following morning.
According to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), highway workers will relocate K-Rail and restripe the mainlanes. Traffic will then be shifted left onto the newly constructed lane.
Detour signs will be placed to guide motorists around the closure.
The work is part of the $9.5 million Reduce the Wait on I-8 Project that is scheduled to be complete in late 2011.
