Construction Begins on Carroll Canyon Road Bridge Over Interstate I5
SAN DIEGO – Construction on Carroll Canyon Road Bridge over Interstate 15 (I-15) will begin on Thursday, weather permitting, as part of the ongoing I-15 Express Lanes Project, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
Motorists are advised that construction workers will place temporary concrete barriers along the middle of the bridge, which will temporarily eliminate two lanes and shift traffic to the north. One eastbound lane and one westbound lane will remain open during construction. Left turn lanes onto the northbound and southbound on-ramps will also be provided. This traffic change is necessary to begin bridge demolition work on the south side of the bridge.
This phase of bridge construction will last approximately one year and is part of the south segment of the I-15 Express Lanes project. The south segment will be completed at the end of 2012. Caltrans will make every effort to minimize disruption during construction. For more information on the I-15 Express Lanes project, call the project information hotline at (866) 890-1397 or log-on to www.KeepSanDiegoMoving.com.
