Caltrans Offices Closed First and Third Fridays Of Each Month
SAN DIEGO – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close its offices on the first and third Fridays of each month, starting this Friday. The closures are in accordance with Gov. Schwarzenegger’s executive order for state employees to be placed on unpaid furloughs during these days for the next 18 months.
This will include the Department’s main regional office at 4050 Taylor Street in Old Town San Diego, and some maintenance and construction field offices – about 1,400 employees in all throughout San Diego and Imperial counties.
Caltrans Director Will Kempton said he will stagger some employees to provide bare bones coverage for essential maintenance response, construction and permit inspections, transportation management and legal proceedings, but other than that there will be no public services offered on these days.
Customers are encouraged to leave a message at (619) 688-6670, and a representative will return their call on the following Monday.
