Southbound State Route 163 Through Balboa Park to Close Sunday Morning
SAN DIEGO – State Route 163 will be closed in the southbound direction between Interstate 8 and Ash Street this Sunday from 3-11 a.m., according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
The east and westbound connectors from I-8 as well as the Washington Street and Robinson Avenue on-ramps to southbound SR-163 will also be closed.
“Multiple crews will be out there at the same time to take care of everything from electrical to bridge maintenance, striping and landscape work,” said Caltrans Deputy District Director Armando Garcia.
Motorists heading southbound on SR-163 will be detoured to westbound I-8, then southbound on I-5 to northbound SR-163.
Motorists eastbound on I-8 may continue eastbound and then take southbound I-805 to westbound SR-94 and then proceed northbound on SR-163.
Signs will be placed in advance to advise motorists of the closures and detour routes.
