Afternoon On-Ramp Metering on Miramar Road at I-15 to Begin January 14
SAN DIEGO –The eastbound Miramar Road to southbound Interstate 15 (I-15) ramp meter will be activated for the afternoon commute starting Wednesday, Jan. 14, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). The meter will allow two cars per green light to enter the freeway, helping to regulate the flow of traffic downstream from the on-ramp. The meter now operates only during the morning commute.
Motorists should anticipate brief delays at the on-ramp. Traffic experts will monitor the meter and any potential impacts it may have on adjacent city streets. Detour signs will be placed in the area offering motorists an alternative route to I-15 by traveling south on Kearny Villa Road to eastbound Miramar Way and on to I-15. Drivers may also head south on Kearny Villa Road to access State Route 163.
Work continues on the I-15 Express Lanes and will be completed at the end of 2012. For updated road closure information, call the project information hotline at (866) 890-1397 or log-on to www.KeepSanDiegoMoving.com.
