The
Caltrans Highway Maintenance Crews are responsible for maintaining
up to 1,700 lane miles of California State highways and freeways in
San Diego and Imperial counties. The seven to ten employees of each
crew work to assure the safety, quality, stability, as well as structural
integrity of the facilities they are responsible for. They accomplish
this by:
Maintaining and repairing drainage facilities.
Emergency traffic control for traffic accidents involving vehicles
and/or structures.
Cleaning of hazardous spills on the freeways or highways.
Repairing minor storm damage.
