Are the cross sections available now?
  • Cross sections are available on 05/01/01 at our Old Town Office

Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Bid item 4, Temporary Concrete Washout,
section 10-1.08 of Special Provisions

Section 10-1.08 states a "concrete washout will consist of a 208 liter drum." And that "Temporary concrete washout will be measured by the unit as determined from actual count in place." Does this mean that a "unit" consists of a 208 liter drum and payment will be made for each drum used?
The bid quantity for this item is 1.  The project must be constructed in 2 stages, so there will be a minimum of two separate washout "areas" consisting of multiple drums.  Please clarify if pay quantity will be determined by the number of drums, number of areas, or is the intent that the bid quantity of "1" is a lump sum amount intended to compensate contractor for all washouts he uses.

  • The number of drums shall be measured by the unit from actual count in place and any increase in quantity of "concrete washouts" needed shall be paid for in accordance with Section 4-1.03 of the Standard Specifications.

Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Bid item 25: Roadway excavation, and bid item 31: Class 2 Aggregate Base

Project Plan X-1, sheet No. 2, indicates that excavation for, and placement of, Class 2 will extend to back of A2-200 curb. Cross Sections indicate that limits of excavation for, and placement of, Class 2 base, will be face of curb. Which detail will be used for construction and determination of quantities?

  • The cross sections are for "information only" and shall be corrected before actual construction. For bidding purposes use Contract Plan TYPICAL CROSS SECTION X-1 (sheet 2 of 45) and any increase in the quantity shall be in accordance with Section 4-1.03 of the Standard Specifications.
Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Bid Item 15: Temporary Crash Cushion ADIEM - 350, Special Provisions section 10-1.23

If the unit is hit and damaged by a publicly owned vehicle and some, or all, of the modules require replacement, will contractor be reimbursed for the cost of the modules and the installation?  I spoke to Trinity Industries and they stated that replacement modules are expensive, $450 each plus freight, and will require several days to get delivered. There are 12 modules in unit, if large publicly owned vehicle hit and destroyed numerous modules, significant cost would be incurred for replacement modules plus temporary crash cushion array would have to be installed.

  • A contract change order will be issued for repairing/ replacing any portion of the ADIEM-350 damaged by public traffic to be paid as extra work as provided in Section 4-1.03 of the Standard Specifications and any units completely replaced due to damage by public traffic will be measured and paid for as Temporary Crash Cushion ADIEM-350.
