Plan Sheet / Specification Reference= Item 3 Maintain Existing Fiber Rolls, Sheet 2-10, SP Section 10-1.04

Question=There are 55,317 LF of existing fiber rolls and they are in the same area of proposed irrigation and planting. Once proposed irrigation trenching starts, existing fiber rolls will be damaged or crushed by
equipment runover and walking. They will slow the progress of irrigation or planting works and will increase the project cost. Realistically, it would be impossible to maintain existing fiber rolls and install
irrigation/planting in the same area at the same time.

  • Existing fiber rolls are to be maintained as specified in the Notice to Bidders and Special Provisions.

Question=Will State Route 52 be opened to public traffic prior to the commencement of construction for this contract? If not, what is the scheduled opening date?

  • SR52 is scheduled for opening on March 26, 2011.

  Q:02/09/11
R:02/10/11

Plan Sheet / Specification Reference= Items 33 & 34, "Maintain Existing Planted Areas" and "Plant Establishment Work"

Question=Please verify that the maintenance and plant establishment work will require full Landscape Construction Laborer prevailing wage rates and NOT Landscape Maintenance Laborer rates. Pursuant to the Director of Industrial Relations' "SCOPE OF WORK PROVISIONS FOR LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE LABORER IN IMPERIAL, INYO, KERN, LOS ANGELES, MONO, ORANGE, RIVERSIDE, SAN BERNARDINO, SAN DIEGO, SAN LUIS OBISPO, SANTA BARBARA, AND VENTURA COUNTIES" it is noted that the Landscape Maintenance Laborer determination "does not apply to work of a landscape laborer employed on landscape construction (work incidental to construction or post-construction maintenance during the plant installation and establishment period)."

  • Yes, on this federal-aid project  the District will enforce journeyman Landscape/Irrigation Laborers and Landscape/Irrigation Fitters, as well as, apprentices employed in the appropriate ratios.  This includes the period of plant establishment.  Classifications and associated prevailing wages that are not appropriate are Landscape Maintenance Laborer, Landscape/Irrigation Tender, and Landscape/Irrigation Tradesman.
