Question= Per plan sheet 785, 787, 807, 829 there is bar reniforcing steel and reinforcing mesh located in the shotcrete sections. Is all bar reinforcing steel and reinforcing mesh covered in bid item 117 bar reinforcing steel (CIP Wall Face) for the shotcrete section?

Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Item #40, 59, 60, 61.  Remove Slope Paving and Bridge Removal Location C, D, E.  Special Provision Section "Bridge Removal" pages 313 and 314.

Question= Special Provisions page 314 describes Bridge Removal for Locations C, D, and E (items 59, 60, and 61) as "Removal of portions of existing slope paving".  These locations match the locations shown on the Layout drawings for "Remove slope paving".  Please clarify whether the removal of existing slope paving will be paid for in bid items 59, 60, and 61 or in bid item 40.

•  Removal of Existing Slope Paving will be paid under the "Bridge Removal (Portion) C, D & E" Items.

Are " Design Study Only" cross sections for these areas available at this time?

Question= Plan sheet 576 (SQ-13) indicates that Sign No. 16E and 16F are part of the 16 each Remove Sign Structure for bid item #38 yet the "Remarks" column on plan sheet 576 for Sign No. 16E and 16F indicates "Remove by Others". Please clarify whether the Contractor is to remove these sign structures?

Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Bid quantities for Asphalt items.

Question= Our takeoff quantity for Type A asphalt is significantly lower than bid quantity, while qty for AC Base and ATPB is significantly higher.  For ATPB takeoff qty by sheet is consistently at least 134% of qty indicated on quantity sheets.  Since Q Sheets are not broke down by specific lines/areas
as normal, just by sheet, cannot find discrepancy.  Is it possible Caltrans used incorrect structural section thickness in quantity calcs, and that bid quantities are substantially incorrect?

Question= Plan sheets 791 and 810 illustrates a 1.05m minimum pregrouted corrugated plastic sheathing with the remainder of the soil nail epoxy coated.  The special provisions state the soil nail shall be a reinforcing bar encapsulated full length in a grouted corrugated plastic sheathing.  Does the contractor have the option of using either corrosion protection method?

High Light Electric, Inc. ("HLE") intends to submit a bid to perform that certain scope of work on the above-referenced project set forth in Bid Item Nos. 202 – 227.  HLE's typical composite crews on such projects include laborers, operating engineers and electricians.  Daily work assignments are made based on HLE's past practice and what is believed to be the prevailing practice in Southern California.
1.         Does the owner maintain intend to impose, or enforce any pre-established work classifications, groups, or jurisdictional assignments for laborers, operating engineers and/or electricians specific to the Bid Item work performed on the Project?
2.         During the performance of the work, do the owner's inspectors direct the contractor as to which crafts must perform specific Bid Items of work on the Project?
3.         Is there any restriction on a contractor's employee performing work covered by more than one DIR prevailing wage determination so long as he is paid the prevailing wage rate applicable to the particular work he is performing at that time?
