Plan Sheet / Specification Reference= #6 Temp. Stripe (Tape) 820 LF , Plan Sht Th-5
Sect. 10-1.13

Question=Why is "Temp Tape" called out for an area (ramp) that is going to be overlaid.
In this situation Temp. Stripe "paint" would be a better solution and cheaper plus not having the possibility of the tape not adhering thru the temp. phase.

Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Item #19, Asphalt Concrete (Type HS), Plan sheet X-1, Special Prov Section10-1.21, Pg. 120 - Quality Control Plan.

Question= Clarify:

Typical cross section shows 0.30', 0.25', 0.50' asphalt (Type HS) thicknesses.  Will the State require the contractor to do three different test panels as implied in the quality control plan paragraph on page 120?

Please clarify as we are not certain if this plan is what the State intends to implement.

  •   Please bid per the current contract bid documents.

Plan Sheet / Specification Reference= Item No. 19, Section 10-1.21, page 118

Question= It appears there may be a typographacal error on the second sieve size of the chart titled Aggregate Gradation 3/4 inch listed in Section 10-1.21 Asphalt Concrete (HS) on page 118 of the special provisions. Currently, the sieve size is listed as 1/2 inch. Previous Caltrans projects utilizing this same 3/4 inch mix have listed the sieve size as 3/4 inch for the Operating Range of 87-95. Please clarify.

  • Please bid per the current contract bid documents.
