Caltrans District 11 Construction Department has developed this method of answering Bidder's Inquiries to better serve the needs of the Contractors who bid on our Projects. Caltrans District 11 Construction Department will post all of the questions submitted by any of the contractors that are registered Planholders for that Contract, but reserves the right to not answer any questions deemed unsatisfactory for public viewing.

Question= Since when did
Caltrans Dist. 11 start using a different type of paint without giving
notice to contractors or indicating to the "trade" that they would
specify a totally different type of traffic paint.. In checking we have
found that the equipment to apply this type of paint is in the
$400,000+ range and is only available by using an out-of-state
sub-contractor to apply it, and also that the paint and beads for this
application are very expensive...
