Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Item 24, Grind existing concrete
pavement.  The special condition section 10-1.27, states "This work shall
consist of grinding existing portland cement concrete AS SHOWN ON THE
PLANS....."

Question=We can find no notation on the plans indicating where this grinding
is to take place.  Also, there is only 100 M2 listed in the summary of
quantities and set up as a bid quantity, and section 10-1.27 further states
that "Grinding shall be performed...full lane width so the the grinding
begins and ends at lines perpendicular to the pavement centerline".  The
quantity of 100 M2, on a single 3.6M lane would only be 27.32M long!  Where
is it? The project limits contain several lane-kilometers of concrete
pavement.

  • The work required for the quantity under  item 24 as shown on the "Copy of Engineer's Estimate," will be directed by the Engineer as per paragraph 1 of Section 10-1.27 "Grind Existing Concrete Pavement." of the Special Provisions.
